How do forwards originate ?

Hi All,

I've been wondering on something for a while now (for past few hours ;)). The questions is in the subject line. We always get forwards in one form or another. And many people don't like them at all. But, does any one know how do they originate ? I mean did you ever put 10 flowers or 7 cute kids or 9 great pictures together and wrote a message for each of those ? At least I've never done so, I always get something from somewhere and just pass it on, if I like it ;).  And I guess all of us do the same thing, right ? But I myself have never done anything like this or compiled 15 PJs together and started the chain.

Sometimes, I've seen mails originating from some big companies, and then they  have note at the bottom that "Meant for the recipients only etc..", so do they have such departments/employees in their companies to compile such mails ? ;). Or, are there any special  people in the market who do such work or they are just like us with lots of time to spare ? The wondering question is "Who/where/what is the source ?"

So, what do you say, any inputs on this people ?

For inspirational quotes/stories and such, there are forums ppl subscribe to who send stories to "brighten your day".

For jokes, there is a mailing list for joke a day (again, so that you start your day with a smile). Subscribers archive all their favourite ones and send them to their friends on a weekly or monthly basis. Good ones get forwarded.

For mails which say, "forward this to everyone in your address book else ..." there is some idiot who has a lot of time and resources at his disposal and thinks it is fun to scare ppl and unnecessarily increase the traffic thru the routers.

Besides these, in general when ever someone encounters photos/articles/news/jokes while surfing the web and think it is interesting/funny they forward the article to ppl they think will enjoy it.
